Privacy Policy
Effective October 12, 2026
Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Spotter (“Spotter,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information when you visit spotterclass.app (the “Site”) or join our waitlist, and the choices and rights you have.
Scope
This policy covers the Site and the waitlist. The Spotter software, which studios will use to manage families, students, and payments, is not yet generally available. When it is, we will publish an updated policy describing how we process that data, including our role as a service provider (processor) acting on behalf of studios for their customers' information.
Personal information we collect
From you
- Waitlist details: your email address and, if you choose to provide it, your studio's name.
- Communications: anything you send us by email, such as questions or feedback.
Automatically
- Technical data: when you visit, our hosting and infrastructure providers process standard request data such as IP address, browser type, device information, pages requested, and timestamps, to deliver and secure the Site.
- Signup context: which form you used, the version of our Terms you accepted, and when you joined.
- Analytics, only if you accept: pages viewed, clicks, referrer, approximate location derived from IP address, and device and browser details, linked to a random visitor id (see our Cookie Policy).
- Cookie choice: whether you accepted or rejected analytics, when, and a random browser id, so we can show that we honored your choice.
From third parties
We do not buy personal information or receive it from data brokers.
How and why we use personal information
- To run the waitlist and contact you about early access and onboarding (to take steps you asked for, and our legitimate interest in launching Spotter).
- To send product updates about Spotter, which you can unsubscribe from at any time (your consent, or our legitimate interest where permitted).
- To operate and secure the Site, prevent abuse, and fix problems (legitimate interest).
- To understand how the Site is used and improve it, only if you accept analytics cookies (your consent, which you can withdraw at any time).
- To measure our advertising, only if you allow advertising cookies (your consent).
- To comply with law and enforce our Terms (legal obligation and legitimate interest).
We do not sell your personal information or use it for automated decisions with legal effects. We only share it for cross-context behavioral advertising (letting Google and Meta measure our ads) if you allow advertising cookies.
Service providers we use
We share personal information only with providers that process it on our behalf under contract:
- Vercel: website hosting and content delivery.
- Convex: database and backend that stores waitlist entries.
- PostHog: product analytics, only for visitors who accept analytics cookies.
- Google Ads and Meta: measuring our advertising, only for visitors who allow advertising cookies.
- An email delivery provider (such as Resend) when we email you.
We will update this list as our providers change.
Other sharing and disclosure
- Legal requirements: if required by law, subpoena, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of our users, the public, or Spotter.
- Merger or acquisition: if Spotter is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this policy.
Cookies
We ask before using any non-essential cookies, treat Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track signals as a rejection, and never use advertising cookies. You can change your choice anytime from Cookie settings at the bottom of every page. See our Cookie Policy for the full list.
International data transfer and storage
We and our providers are based in the United States, and personal information is stored and processed there. If you are outside the United States, your information will be transferred to the U.S., where data protection laws may differ from those in your country. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
Retention and deletion
We keep waitlist information until you ask us to remove it, unsubscribe, or we no longer need it to launch and support Spotter, after which we delete it, except where we must keep limited records to comply with law.
How we keep your data safe
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and stored with providers that use industry-standard security. Access is limited to people who need it. No system is perfectly secure, and we will notify you of a breach affecting your information as required by law.
Children's privacy
The Site and waitlist are intended for adults who run or work at studios. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 where that is the applicable age). If you believe a child has given us information, contact privacy@spotterclass.app and we will delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights over your personal information:
- Access to the information we hold about you (GDPR Art. 15, CCPA/CPRA, and other U.S. state laws, PIPEDA, LGPD).
- Correction of inaccurate information (GDPR Art. 16, CPRA, state laws, PIPEDA, LGPD).
- Deletion (GDPR Art. 17, CCPA/CPRA, state laws, LGPD).
- Restriction of processing (GDPR Art. 18).
- Portability of your information in a usable format (GDPR Art. 20, PIPEDA, LGPD).
- Objection to processing based on legitimate interests, and to direct marketing at any time (GDPR Art. 21).
- Opt out of sale, sharing for targeted advertising, or profiling (CPRA and other state laws). We never sell; sharing only happens if you allow advertising cookies, and you can turn it off anytime.
- Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting earlier processing.
- Non-discrimination: we will not treat you differently for exercising your rights.
- Appeal a decision about your request, and complain to your local data protection authority.
How to exercise your rights
Email privacy@spotterclass.app from the address you used to join, or tell us how we can verify your identity. You may use an authorized agent where the law allows. We respond within the time required by applicable law (generally 30 to 45 days). To stop marketing emails, use the unsubscribe link in any email.
Notice for California residents
In the past 12 months we have collected identifiers (email address, random visitor ids), commercial information (studio name), internet activity data (technical request data, and analytics if you accepted), and approximate geolocation (from IP address, analytics only), from the sources and for the purposes described above. We disclose them only to the service providers listed above for business purposes. We do not sell personal information. If you allow advertising cookies, Google and Meta receive identifiers and internet activity, which is “sharing” under the CCPA/CPRA. It is off unless you turn it on, and you can opt out at any time with the “Do not sell or share my personal information” link in the footer. We honor Global Privacy Control signals as an opt-out of sharing. We have no actual knowledge of selling or sharing information of consumers under 16.
Changes to this policy
We will post any changes on this page with a new effective date, and will email waitlist members about material changes.
